Little Floral Pin Cushion (Little Chinese Windows)
Each of these ‘Little Chinese Windows’ depicts a curated vignette of objects arranged as a still life image with image details layered over the top.
A vibrant silk emerald green pincushion sits within a stack of vintage Chinese ceramic bowls found in various second-hand shops in Hong Kong and Singapore. Sitting on the side of the bowls is a bright blue feathered bird bought in the Hong Kong bird and flower market and below, some embroidered pink flowers taken from an old silk cushion cover. The sweet colorful budgies sitting on top of the pincushion came from a vintage hand mirror. This scene is reminiscent of Louise Hill's mother’s sewing and knitting table and brings back fond childhood memories.
