Wooden Lacquer Low Table (Fuki-urushi)
The Wooden Lacquer Low Table is a collaboration between Tomoko Azumi, a United Kingdom-based product designer, and Riko Takahashi, the designer of the Tokyo Olympics uniforms.
Inspired by the traditional Japanese "Sendai Tansu" or a warrior's chest of drawers, this designer piece flaunts a traditional technique called fuki-urushi which highlights the beautiful grain of the zelkova tree. The drawers are made of paulownia wood known for efficiently controlling moisture. The chest can be used as a decorative piece or to store luxury watches, silk scarves, and other precious items.
This Wooden Lacquer Low Table won the 2013 Good Design Award.
