Kakishibu Small Chest
The Kakishibu Small Chest is a collaboration between Hitoshi Kuramoto, a product designer, and Riko Takahashi, the designer of the Tokyo Olympics uniforms.
Inspired by the traditional Japanese "Sendai Tansu" or a warrior's chest of drawers, this designer piece has is created using "kakishibu", a traditional Japanese dye / paint of deep amber color which comes from unripe persimmons that have been fermented and aged for more than 2 years. The drawers are made of paulownia wood known for efficiently controlling moisture. The chest can be used as a decorative piece or to store luxury watches, silk scarves, and other precious items.
