Symbolizing abundance and good luck, a pair of fish is regarded as one of the 8 treasures in Chinese culture. This Silver Double Fish Vase was painted by artist Peng Bo, who used dots of glaze to meticulously depict the animal hair and scales in a three-dimensional rendering. His delicate and smooth details bring the animals to life whilst the vivid underglaze gives a sense of vitality to the imagery.
The pure silver glazed on the surface will oxidize after frequent use, giving the vessel a unique and stylistic quality that depends on the habit of its user and the temperatures of its surroundings — a connection formed over time. Alternatively, use a polishing cloth to restore its original shine.
