Haron Mokhtar is a famous modern and contemporary Malaysian artist who has a distinct, discernible style of painting. He was born in Selangor in 1963. He is an artist and educator whose artworks are influenced by the local culture and natural environment and heritage of the Malaysian community, particularly indigenous culture. His artistic practice focuses on the discourse between man and his environment. Haron attended the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) between 1983 and 1987 where he obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking.
