The Straits Collection is The Rug Maker’s contemporary interpretation of Peranakan or Straits Chinese history and culture, inspired by details in the personal effects of its people and their daily activities.

Nyonyas would gather around the table to gossip, chew sireh, or chit-chat while playing Cheki, a popular card game originating from Malacca. Cheki was so immensely popular and addictive that many Nyonyas pawned or sold their jewelry just to try their luck at the game.

Hand-tufted in New Zealand Wool and Bamboo. Due to dye-lot variations, actual materials may vary slightly from color yarn.

Rugs are hand tufted, actual rug size may vary 3-5% from the stated size.

For rug(s) with a length >2.4 m, folding will be required to facilitate delivery. This may cause creases / wrinkling on rug(s) and will ease out over time.
