The Fall, Water Tank

This project documents artist Mae's observations on the evolution of physical interactions between people during the new normal of the COVID-19 pandemic. As Mae worked and travelled between different countries, she became keenly interested in observing the interactions of people she encountered—whether by the crowded Praia in Hong Kong, in British parks under the summer sun, or remote swimming pools in Norwegian woods.

Subtle shifts in everyday interactions seem imperceptible, but something is still changing: closeness but stiffness, leaving a crevice but still locking, and in a state of contradiction and hesitation. This collective experience has altered long-established norms of physical contact across different cultures.

Underside irregularities is formed after the substance was bubbled under a chemical reaction during the creation process, which are an inherent part of the design and should not be seen as flaws. They contribute to the unique qualities of the artwork.
