Shino Vase (Lattice 4)
This vase was made as part of a collection for exhibition in Paris in early 2022. The collection, entitled Well Mannered, is a contemporary exploration of Shino glaze. Most often celebrated for its rustic aesthetic and unpredictability in firing, this collection explores contemporary expressions of traditional Shino ware.
Each pot is patterned with numerous layers of Shino, using painting techniques to control variation in color and texture; from bright white to deep orange, rough matte to high gloss. This is a handmade stoneware vase - wheel-thrown and gas fired.
