Fangsheng Pattern Cup
The Fangsheng Pattern Cup, a collaboration between COMIVERSE and the Hong Kong Palace Museum, was inspired by an antique from the museum's collection - the three-layer carved lacquerware box decorated with Fangsheng, Bogu, and Dragon-Among-Cloud patterns.
Fangsheng is a traditional pattern of the Han people. The decoration "sheng" has been an auspicious object since the ancient times - during the Song Dynasty, it was given a new name "Shuang De Sheng", meaning happiness and invincibility.
This Fangsheng Pattern Cup that COMIVERSE spent a whole year to create has obtained both the elegant temperament and the stable form of Fangsheng. The handle and body of the cup are connected with a slightly-upswept square corner with a pattern similar to those of the ancient bronzes. The body itself is straight, which is quite rare in the field of ceramics.
