The inspiration for Awakening Lion comes from the majestic guardian lions often found at the entrance of traditional houses and mansions, which Chen Chao, who grew up in Beijing, feels particularly familiar with. His intention for this artwork is to recreate a pair of guardian lions using his own emotional language to connect with his audience.
